Rules that catch riders out

  • Park inside the motorcycle bay

Motorcycle bays are marked separately from car lots. Carparks charge by vehicle type, so a bike left in a car lot can still be booked.

  • Clearance distances are enforced

No parking within 3 m of a fire hydrant, 6 m of a junction, or 9 m of a bus stop. This applies to motorcycles exactly as it does to cars.

  • Yellow lines apply to bikes too

A continuous yellow line means no parking 7am – 7pm on that side, except Sundays and public holidays. A double yellow line means no parking at any time.

  • Never park on a footpath

Footpath parking and riding are offences, including short stops to drop something off. Riders have been prosecuted for using footpaths to bypass carpark gantries.
